Jeff Marcous
Founder and President of Dharma Merchant Services, Jeff started in the acquiring industry over 15
years ago in Portland, Maine. Due to consolidation and other opportunities, Jeff eventually moved to Portland,
Oregon to become northwest regional manager for Cardservice International – the largest independent MSP in the
country. In 1998, as SVP of Sales and Marketing, he became the driving force behind building the Authorize.Net
payment gateway, which today is the largest and most successful Internet payment gateway provider in the country.
The past few years have found him co-directing the efforts of Vision Bankcard, a rapidly-growing MSP based in Utah.
From Jeff: “What I really want to do while I’m here is to unravel all the mysteries of the universe, but while that
is going on, I get to provide a greatly needed service to our merchant friends. At the same time, I can offer a
financial means of support to non profit organizations that are contributing to the health and well being of the
people and places in need. That’s the philosophy behind Dharma Merchant Services.”
Alexia Marcous
Alexia is Vice President of Dharma Merchant Services and is Jeff’s daughter. Alexia holds a Bachelor
of Science in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and an M.B.A. from Drexel
University, where she placed third in the Baiada Center for Entrepreneurship business plan competition.
Alexia has been consulting as a computer programmer and systems architect for 12 years, serving companies and
non-profits in the financial, insurance, pharmaceutical, energy and technology industries.
An avid martial artist, aspiring sailor and life-long spiritual seeker, Alexia is grateful to have Dharma
Merchant Services as a vehicle on the career path to enlightenment. Operating under the banner of “right action,
right livelihood” allows her to use her daily work to engage in the practice of balancing the spiritual and material,
strengthening the mind through innovation and technological understanding, and expressing compassion for our environment
and for each other. Working in the merchant services industry does wonders for her sense of humor.
Dana Marcous
Dana has joined Dharma Merchant Services as the account representative for the Los Angeles area. Dana, Jeff’s brother and
Alexia’s uncle, is a former small business owner who is familiar with payment services, and understands the value of a merchant
service provider that clearly and completely explains their fair and just approach as the “right” way to do business.
Dana teaches yoga and meditation to over 200 students per week from Santa Monica to Silverlake – his site can be viewed
at
www.yogidana.com.
After 25 years of personal practice, he is moving his dharma from the student/teacher place to that of the larger green
and socially responsible community. Dana looks forward to working with conscious business owners to save money while
nurturing the many non-profits, green, and organic organizations in Southern California and beyond.
